A lot of that fallout ends up on the priest - it can be pretty scarey in the desert places. I am a little touchy about the toxic congregation stuff, having seen it in action. The "body of the church" needs to address this problem - if you are shitty to your priest, you will probably be shitty to your brother and sister as well.Hutchhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14017047075501507818noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29373297.post-77829357096649937782012-04-29T06:45:02.061-04:002012-04-29T06:45:02.061-04:00JCF - I most certainly don't. It is antithetical to Anglican ethos. That's why there is such resistance to even a sniff of it in The Episcopal Church. This is why the Anglican Covenant failed in the CofE and why it will fail in TECElizabeth Kaetonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06787552280232329081noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29373297.post-66247134112835241512012-04-28T21:30:32.036-04:002012-04-28T21:30:32.036-04:00Thank you, Malcolm. Is the proposal just for a bit more uniformity in how things are handled? Wouldn't uniformity bred stability? Is the concern that TEC will become too much like the RCC with a Pope, that is not in touch with the laity, making decisions in areas he/she does not understand?<br />MariaAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29373297.post-44191654901357499972012-04-28T18:36:20.148-04:002012-04-28T18:36:20.148-04:00The bad hair analogy is from Archdeacon Alan Perry...The bad hair analogy is from Archdeacon Alan Perry from the Diocese of Edmonton (Canada).Malcolm+https://www.blogger.com/profile/08469936715413110334noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29373297.post-60377024088696041352012-04-28T18:01:17.981-04:002012-04-28T18:01:17.981-04:00Trying to suddenly be something you aren't (an...Trying to suddenly be something you aren't (and, worse, trying to get someone else to be something s/he isn't) results in a boat load of inauthenticity.susankayhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15513759507628166408noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29373297.post-82917176680563843422012-04-28T17:59:27.008-04:002012-04-28T17:59:27.008-04:00The problem is when people DECIDE to be cool they ...The problem is when people DECIDE to be cool they are invariably not authentic.
