I have two and use them for beef stew all the time. The beauty of the crock pot when I have company is that I don't have to check on anything, just keep it on warm. But, for smaller dinner parties, I would definitely use the le creuset. I almost never use a crock pot because I am so madly in love with my le creuset in a low oven (and then I can brown everything in it) and when I thought of this recipe I figured I would not use a crock pot and then imagine my surprise when I clicked on the link and it's a picture of a le creuset.
