In August 05, I was looking for a place to stay near Parsippany, for a week, and I saw that hotel on Expedia. I didn't remember seeing it, so I assumed it was a new hotel, and $80 a night is a deal for a hotel in that area, so, from Michigan, I paid for five nights and didn't realize, until I got there, that it was the old HoJo. The room door didn't lock and they left a plunger by the toilet in the room because you needed it every time you flushed it. Because I'd paid ahead, I staid there with my wife. I know that hotel.DBWhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07327574529287324041noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29373297.post-11800128726575553032007-12-31T21:52:00.000-05:002007-12-31T21:52:00.000-05:00Dear Elizabeth: I read this on HOB/D where I am a...Dear Elizabeth: I read this on HOB/D where I am a kibitzer. Thank you for reminding us that Christ comes in a variety of disguises. I applaud your gracious assistance to this family, not the least being your careful listening and emotional support. My wife is a doula, and was a peer counselor at a crisis pregnancy center; some of the things she saw and helped folks overcome would affect anyone with a heart. For some years now we have picked one family at Christmastide with small children, reaching out to parish and other friends alike to organize a memorable celebration. Would that we Episcopalians/ Christians could reach all families like your piano tuner, and his construction worker neighbor. I pray that I never see only the disguise.

Charles NightingaleUnknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05382770817150148322noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29373297.post-84011759184608256092007-12-31T16:06:00.000-05:002007-12-31T16:06:00.000-05:00"We are all two or three paychecks away..." For Dave to worry about someone "worse off than him" is sheer grace and the light of God shining in him. God bless him and his family. How wonderful that he included you in this circle of hope!Kirkepiscatoidhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02651684515435040529noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29373297.post-41220176691895117472007-12-31T13:58:00.000-05:002007-12-31T13:58:00.000-05:00What a luminous, beautiful post.
