I suspect just a bit of "projection" is going on here, and am often amused by how much of the inner working of their minds they reveal, while apparently having no clue the are doing so.KJhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15701224049914946896noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29373297.post-65142116295507096172008-12-06T14:00:00.000-05:002008-12-06T14:00:00.000-05:00Well, if the RCs are closing a church in that area...Well, if the RCs are closing a church in that area, I wonder what the market share is for Christians in that area. Hmmmmm . . .I'm thinking, not so much, even with Matt's obvious skills and talents.

Actually Elizabeth this is the fifth or sixth RC congregation to be merged into other larger congregations in the last two or three years. With more to come in the next year or two.

St. Stanislaus and St. Joseph and St. Ann on the North side were merged into Holy Trinity at the former St. Ann's Church; St. Christopher and St. Catherine on the east side were merged into St. Francis of Asissi at St. Catherine's. St. Andrew is now merged into St. John the Evangelist on the South side.

Christ the King and St. Casimir in Endicott will be merging into St. Anthony of Padua; and I believe St. Paul's will be merged into Holy Name of Mary downtown.

The Binghamton area is richly endowed with Church communities. Even with the schism; TEC still has Trinity Memorial, Christ, All Saints, St. Paul's, and St. Mark's in the urban core; and Zion, St. John's and a second Christ outside of downtown.

I agree with you about Matt Kennedy; he has an excellent mind and will be a great pastor in the right congregation.gerryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09992216957664459649noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29373297.post-53950339649654294092008-12-06T10:18:00.000-05:002008-12-06T10:18:00.000-05:00You can't issue a birth certificate for someone wh...You can't issue a birth certificate for someone who hasn't yet been born. What happened this past week in Wheaton is that a group of male bishops came together and conceived a new province/denomination. It is now in the embryonic or fetal stage. The birth will occur in about six months at a "provincial synod" in Bedford, Texas (near Fort Worth). It is only at that point that the application for the "birth certificate" can even be filed.Paul Powershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04833212693999583069noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29373297.post-60189832835214909072008-12-06T03:11:00.000-05:002008-12-06T03:11:00.000-05:00"Our Ruth with the Inside Anglican Scoop" - who, B..."Our Ruth with the Inside Anglican Scoop" - who, BTW, looked pretty smashing in the outfit she favoured whilst at Lambeth this past August...

Heh-heh: good thing you kept your eyes on what mattered at Lambeth this summer, Lisbeth!

[Though personally, I still favor Riazat Butt in the "English Religious Newsbabe" department. ;-D]

Gotta give Ruth credit for that headline (I think?): didn't know she had it in her!

Discussions were pretty frank and they went over everything, from Lambeth 1:10, through 2003 to the present day. I was pretty sure you meant "Supreme Court" but thanks for being really clear.

You know, I sometimes worry about his intensity, but Matt is clearly a very bright, enthusiastic Christian with a passion for evangelism. I couldn't disagree more with his theology, but he does write like a well trained systematic theologian. He also has a very warm smile, and a genuinely kind demeanor, so I'm guessing he probably has a pastor's heart, too. It's too bad he has closed his heart and his mind to LGBT people. I wish him well.

Tony Seal has obviously landed where he needs to be.

Well, if the RCs are closing a church in that area, I wonder what the market share is for Christians in that area. Hmmmmm . . .I'm thinking, not so much, even with Matt's obvious skills and talents.

Thanks again for the info. It was an extremely sad moment for everyone at Convention.

The Diocese's suit against them will be heard in the Supreme will be heard during December.

For more current information on their side you can go to the newly launched Blog of the Good Shepherd.

You'll also learn that the Rev. Matt Kennedy, a priest in the Church of Kenya, is a member of the Executive Committee of Common Cause's "Homeless Baby Province" born in Wheaton, IL on December 3. A read of the Blog for November hints that they may be considering a just closed RC Church 4 miles from Good Shepherd.

The Rev. Tony Seel, priest in the Church of Nigeria and the "Anglican Remnant" of St. Andrew's, Vestal is still co lo'd with the Baptists.

The Diocese has sold the Rectory, but the sale of the Church building fell through when the Town of Vestal refused to permit a special use variance for the building.

Gerry Hough
Trinity Memorial Church
Binghamtongerryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09992216957664459649noreply@blogger.com
