"Finally, I suspect that it is by entering that deep place inside us where our secrets are kept that we come perhaps closer than we do anywhere else to the One who, whether we realize it or not, is of all our secrets the most telling and the most precious we have to tell." Frederick Buechner

Sometimes, organized religion makes you laugh
But mostly, it's MadPriest's disorganized take on the Roman Catholic Church in general and Pope Benedict in particular that's absolutely hysterical.

I believe that the views of the Pope and the bishops are instrumental in expanding the congregations of the Episcopal, Lutheran, and other more liberal denominations. Being an Ex-RC and recently coming over to ECUSA, I think that the RC strategy is positively brilliant. Their driving away the homosexual sinners (me) and everyone else who chooses to think instead of blindly follow. The sinners and aberrations are leaving the RC church in droves, how delightful. Fairly soon the RC hierarchy will have exactly what they want, a bunch of narrow minded old men lining up to hear each others confessions concerning all that thinking about sex that seems to intrigue them so.
ReplyDeleteYEAH! What Bill said.
ReplyDeleteI don't need an old man in a dress to tell me how to think.
And I certainly don't think a celibate old man should say ANYTHING to me about marriage, sex or who should be married or have sex.
I left Rome, rather than stayed to fight to change, because, if they want to kill their own denominaiton through bigotry and tribalism disguised as faith, they are definitely on the proper path.
I got two of my RC neighbors to come to TEC. One is divorced and remarried(quelle horreur!) and the other has a brother who is openly gay, and couldn't see how God could care about who he loves.
Bye-bye Benny. Don't worry, I didn't let the door hit me in the @ss when I left!
