The latest picture of Abigayle Sophia (nine months and 3/4) and MacKenna Jane (five and 3/4).
Here, Mackie explains to Abby everything about the Mermaid Ariel who graces her new pillow.
It's just something Big Sisters do for their Little Sisters.
Ariel is Mackie's hero even though her Nana really, really does not like the fact that Ariel has to lose her voice to a jealous old Hag in order to gain her Prince.
Deep sigh!
The Disney studio IS making some progress on feminist issues. I mean, even the Beast discovered that the way to win the Beauty Belle's heart was through her love of books.
I know. I know. There's still the whole "Beauty and the Beast" thing. Hey, in today's world, a girl's gotta take progress wherever she can get it.
You know, sometimes the only thing left for a self-respecting and very proud Nana to do is sing . . . (one of the songs I sing to them as a lullaby).
I've got sunshine on a cloudy day.
When it's cold outside I've got the month of May.
I guess you'd say
What can make me feel this way?
My girls (my girls, my girls)
Talkin' 'bout my girl (my girls).
I've got so much honey the bees envy me.
I've got a sweeter song than the birds in the trees.
I guess you'd say
What can make me feel this way?
My girls (my girls, my girls)
Talkin' 'bout my girl (my girls).
Hey hey hey
Hey hey hey
Ooooh.
I don't need no money, fortune, or fame.
I've got all the riches baby anyone can claim.
I guess you'd say
What can make me feel this way?
My girls (my girls, my girls)
Talkin' 'bout my girl (my girls).
I've got sunshine on a cloudy day
with my girls.
I've even got the month of May
with my girls . . .
"Finally, I suspect that it is by entering that deep place inside us where our secrets are kept that we come perhaps closer than we do anywhere else to the One who, whether we realize it or not, is of all our secrets the most telling and the most precious we have to tell." Frederick Buechner
Come in! Come in!
"If you are a dreamer, come in. If you are a dreamer, a wisher, a liar, a Hope-er, a Pray-er, a Magic Bean buyer; if you're a pretender, come sit by my fire. For we have some flax-golden tales to spin. Come in! Come in!" -- Shel Silverstein
