"Finally, I suspect that it is by entering that deep place inside us where our secrets are kept that we come perhaps closer than we do anywhere else to the One who, whether we realize it or not, is of all our secrets the most telling and the most precious we have to tell." Frederick Buechner

Woo-hoo! is right. May God bless Michael in his new ministry.
ReplyDeleteIs anybody really that young? What an absolutely perfect time of his life. Preserve that moment. Capture it on film, put it in a bottle, press it between the pages of a favorite book. And then, at some time in the far distant future, sitting in front of a roaring fire with an old dog sleeping at your feet, open it, remember the moment, and smile.
ReplyDeleteThis is exactly part of the problem - people see Michael, or others like him, and they only see the "young" packaging. Michael really is "that young", but more significant to the celebrating that happened on Saturday is the fact that he really is SO CALLED!
ReplyDeleteMy prayer is that someday, in the distant future, as Michael and others like him are sitting in front of fires with old dogs at their feet, that more than their youth, they will remember the fervor that called them away from the lures of more stable and lucrative lives into lives of service and prayer.
Better yet, why wait for the dog and the fire - let this moment be a reminder in the times that lie not too far ahead when questioning and doubt will threaten the ministry that is at hand!!
So yeah... Woo hoo! Let's pray that Michael will use the energy from Saturday in the days and years ahead, and that all of us will also use that energy to make good on our own vows to uphold him in this ministry.
I know, I know 'Lizabet, you already told us that Miguel has una paraja, but he is so edibly cute!! Muy precioso.
ReplyDelete¡Dios mío! It would be so hard to concentrate in church with him as the curate or rector! Especially at Eucharist if he was the kind who look into your eyes while serving. I would just fall out in the spirit right then and there.
¡Muchas felicidades, Padre Miguel!
Oh, David, darling, you are the one who is muy precioso! Anyone can see that!
