My Confession

Bless me Father for I have sinned. It has been two days since my last confession.

I wore Crocs today.

Black.

Ballet.

Not tacky.

Not in church.

Sue me.

Amen.

  1. Our Lord Jeus Christ, who has left power to his Church to absolve all sinners who truly repent and believe in him, of his great mercy forgive you your fashion foible; and by his authority committed to us, we absolve you from all your fshion sins: in the name of Ralph Loren, Perry Ellis and Coco Chanel. Amen.

  2. You know what I say... When you have good lookin' feet, you can put anything on them and look good.

    Show 'em off Sister!

  5. Does PeaceBang know about this? ;-)

  6. Two absolutions and an offer for penance from none other than Ally. It doesn't get much better than that.

Puleezzee - just don't tell PeaceBang, okay. I'm still trying to make my way back into her good graces after my fashion faux pas at General Convention 2006.

  7. Isn't love grand ( and confusing) when it can get us adopting habits or tastes of our partner which we'd formerly rolled our eyes at.

Dear Elizabeth+ just once again goes to show what a delightfully human being you are!

No do those ballet crocs come in bright yellow or hot pink- you could even considering coordinating with Ms. Conroy when the occasion merits such brilliance

  8. David has inspired me! I think you should get bright yellow ones, then paint flamingoes on them. Yeah ... that's the ticket.

  9. Elizabeth+ are you saying our sweet Lord & Savior who loves each and every one of us 'unconditionally and beyond our wildest imagening' has a problem with crocs- balet or otherwise- in church? (see your confession point #5)
is this going to be the next successionist tempest in the Anglican teapot? over crocs in the chancel?

  10. Oh, Lord, grant that we may be so silly as to stir a tempest in the Anglican tea pot over the proper use Crocs in thy sanctuary.

    Amen.

  11. Ooooo, now you've got me wondering...is it a sin that I went to the rail in my socks one time this past winter?

I came early to shovel the church sidewalk and wore my "chore boots" (you know, those knee high pull on rubber farm boots) but forgot real shoes for church. Since my chore boots also have "donkey biscuits and mule muffins" on them, I left them in the narthex and did church in my ragg wool socks...

I don't THINK it's a sin, but now this croc debate has me wondering!

  12. Sin is that which separates you from God. I doubt if Crocs or an entire crock of boots can do that.

    Then again, OCICBW

  13. We apologize to you for not bringing this up sooner, the holiday weekend, you know, but

  14. Actually, Elizabeth, our Priest Associate had the perfect line for that. She asked me after church, "What happened to your shoes?" I told her since I came in my chore boots to do the sidewalks, I didn't want to bring donkey and mule doo doo into the sanctuary...and she whispered in my ear, "So what? Isn't that what we're supposed to do, bring all our shit to the altar and leave it behind?"

  15. I am predicting a new thread on Stand Firm about the lack of moral respect female clerics have for God's clear command that high heels be worn at all times. Anyone want to start a pool on the first comment blaming Bp. Griswald?

  16. I put on my asbestos pumps yesterday and wandered over to Bullies on Viagra only to discover that there's a HUGE Theological Food Fight between Their Ms. Hey and Baby Blue.

Right at this red hot second, I don't think they'll care two figs what I do or do not wear on my feet in the sanctuary.
