V-A-C-A-T-I-O-N!!!!!

In about two hours, I squeeze myself into my tightly packed car and head to Llangollen, our wee cottage on Rehoboth Bay where I will stay until Labor Day.

Well, that's the plan, at least.

It really doesn't matter that today is cloudy and overcast with chance of occasional showers. I don't even know the weather forecast for the Delmarva Peninsula.

And, you know what? I don't care.

I can't wait (can you tell?).

Yes, of course, I'll be 'blogging'. I'll just be doing it out on the deck in my jammies over a third cuppajoe with none but the seagulls to read over my shoulder.

Woo-hoo!

If you're in the area (and even if you're not), do come by. The corn and tomatoes are amazing this time of year. I'll pull up some crabs from the end of our pier, steam them with tons of Old Bay, and we'll feast like royalty.

Y'all have a standing invitation. Just bring your favorite libation.

I haven't left yet, but already, I'm outta here!

  1. I am jealous about the crabs. Like, INSANELY jealous. Here in the landlocked Midwest, people think those nasty pollock and sugar/soy protein rubbery crab flavored sticks ARE crab. (blech.)

When I was in Washington DC for three months in 1995, I went to Baltimore EVERY weekend at least once to go to the pier and eat a "bag o' crab"--crab steamed in old bay,sat out on a picnic table, mashed 'em with a mallet, and made a wet mess of my hands.

I have never really gotten over the lack of "real crab" here without an outrageous price tag on them!

  2. It is a little further away than Vermont, but boy is that one tempting offer!!

Have a great trip - although as you said, there will be blogging.
