"Finally, I suspect that it is by entering that deep place inside us where our secrets are kept that we come perhaps closer than we do anywhere else to the One who, whether we realize it or not, is of all our secrets the most telling and the most precious we have to tell." Frederick Buechner

Theme from 'A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving'
A little one minute something to which to listen as an aid your digestion while you finish all those Thanksgiving leftovers.
No promises if you also eat left over pumpkin pie with whipped cream. Similar applications apply to left over apple pie and ice cream or a glass of eggnog.
Eat all the left over chocolate dinner mints you wish, however. They have to be out of the house by Sunday night.
It's a tough job, but someone's gotta do it (and the mint is great for your digestion).
Extra points if you download this song to your iPod and take a long walk!

Tastes are strange. The thought of pumpkin pie with cream makes me feel queasy. Must admit I have never had pumpkin pie, is it sweet? We only have pumpkin as a vegetable with main course or as a soup before the meal.
ReplyDeleteThen, all my American friends turn up their noses at plum pudding with either cream or sweet white sauce and for me it would not be Christmas without it.
Pumpkin pie is sweet, so the whipped cream is totally appropriate. Then again, the whipped cream is also sweetened with a bit of sugar and vanilla extract, and I don't believe the cream you use on plum pudding is sweetened, is it?
ReplyDeleteI also make a sweet potato casserole which is covered with a mixture of brown sugar, flour, and chopped pecans. I tastes more like eating sweet potato pie with your meal butI serve it as a side dish every Thanksgiving and Little Christmas. For three of our children, it wouldn't be a holiday meal without that.
Tastes are not only strange, they are particular and regional.
Just had coffee with my sister who worked for an American company for many years and she tells me pumpkin pie is delicious. I am no cook, occasionally make white sauce for vegetables but have researched and found plum pudding sauce has sugar, vanilla and sometimes brandy in it, yum
