Domestic Violence

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. What is your church or community doing to raise awareness of domestic violence and provide training in prevention?

You can find resources on the National Council of Churches' website at: http://www.ncccusa.org/womensministry/index.html

To read the statement made by Speaker of the House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, see http://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/pelosi-statement-on-domestic-violence-awareness-month-63311877.html

  1. As a survivor of domestic violence myself (at the hands of a "godly", soon-to-be-minister) I can't tell you how much it means to see churches paying attention to this. That relationship nearly killed me - and my faith. Going to church every Sunday is still a struggle for me, with so many bad memories, and regaining my trust in others and my faith in God is a slow process. Thank you for helping me along by not sweeping this issue under the rug.
