Come in! Come in!

"If you are a dreamer, come in. If you are a dreamer, a wisher, a liar, a Hope-er, a Pray-er, a Magic Bean buyer; if you're a pretender, come sit by my fire. For we have some flax-golden tales to spin. Come in! Come in!" -- Shel Silverstein

Music for a NJ Yard Sale

In a few minutes, we'll be setting up the the Yard Sale.

There are books, dishes, furniture, clothing, some jewelry, Christmas Decorations, Halloween Costumes, a few TVs (Really! How did we end up with three TVs????), a microwave.

And, pictures. Lots of pictures for the wall. Stuff that looks good in a rectory but not in a wee cottage by the Bay.

The hardest part has been sorting through the memories attached to each thing.

It's also been the best part. You know?

How did this day come so quickly - and yet, took forever to get here?

I saw a bumper sticker on a car the other day. It read: "Who moved the finish line?"

I laughed right out loud.

I'm not so much concerned about making lots of money - although, that would be great. Moving expenses bring new meaning to the term "Highway Robbery."

I'm really much more interested in talking with people, sharing stories, and finding homes for all this "stuff".

Whatever doesn't sell will go off to Goodwill on Monday.

So, off we go then. Got to run to the bank to get some singles, five's and tens. And, quarters, dimes and nickels. Set up the tables on the front lawn. Put on some Springsteen.

Glory Days, here we come!

6 PM UPDATE: Yard sale: $240 profit. Trips to the dumpster with things we didn't sell: 1. Stories we heard from visitors to the Yard Sale: Priceless.

Did I miss some Major News?

Guess you did, Christian. I'm on vacation in August (yeah, right), then sabbatical for 8 months, doing some post-doc work as Proctor Fellow at EDS, then a 4 month LOA. Our wee cottage in DE will become our "permanent home" - though I will remain, for a time, canonically resident in Newark.
