VOTE!

At 7:35 yesterday morning, these Canada geese came swimming by our wee cottage.

Aren't they lovely? So serene and peaceful.

It was a wonderful start to the day I voted for Barack Obama and Joe Biden.

It was not what I experienced at the Department of Elections in Georgetown when I went to vote later that morning. It was, as one woman said, "Wild".

Okay, so take that word and adjust it to life in Lower, Slower, Delaware. It wasn't South Bronks or mid-Town wild. And, it certainly wasn't African safari wild. It was a ten minute wait in a line that barely circled the building.

I can't imagine how "wild" it will be today.

No matter. Your voice, your vote matters deeply in this election.

To find your voting place where you live, please visit Rock The Vote

If you see or experience any evidence of voter suppression or harassment, please call 866.0UR.VOTE

And, if you are thinking about Reproductive Justice and why your vote matters, please check out this video which was produced by the Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice.

But, please! Just vote! Calmly. Confidently. Peacefully.

But, a bit like those geese - paddling like hell underneath.

Just got back from voting in a 50/50 district just east of Cleveland. Folks working the poll said it was wildly busy early a.m., but only took about 30 min. in the after 9 hour. But a note: this was the first year ever that the state did not send a postcard verifying my district/precinct and place to vote ... a subtle suppression attempt by the now famous block the vote Husted? My postal carrier told me yesterday that I wasn't imagining it - there were no postcards to deliver. Scummy is as scummy does.

I hate to sound paranoid but that sure sounds like a form of voter suppression to me. Especially in your state. I'm keeping a prayer vigil here - praying for patience to wait for the 'good thing' of a Progressive win

It's embarrassing/discouraging, to go to my Sacramento (Carmichael) polling place, and have virtually no wait whatsoever (it took me far longer to carefully color-in the bubbles on the *11* ballot propositions, than it took for me to be handed my ballot in the first place).

Seriously, IF the US ever went to a Popular Vote Presidential Election, THEN I think you see big turn-outs in places like Sacramento.

All over but the waiting (and praying!)

JCF - There's lots more talk about the Electoral College these days than ever before. I wouldn't doubt a change in the constitution to eliminate the EC vote and make it all popular vote.

Congratulations on re-electing your moderate President. (Really folks, he's not left wing anywhere but in the US.)

And you're welcome for the geese.

OH, he's definitely a moderate but socially progressive.

About those geese - They shit all over everything. Everywhere. Is that supposed to be a message from our Canadian friends?
