Come in! Come in!

"If you are a dreamer, come in. If you are a dreamer, a wisher, a liar, a Hope-er, a Pray-er, a Magic Bean buyer; if you're a pretender, come sit by my fire. For we have some flax-golden tales to spin. Come in! Come in!" -- Shel Silverstein

A Picture Says a Thousand Words

Now, I understand.

Drexel Gomez
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Archbishop Drexel Gomez is an Anglican Archbishop.

A graduate of St Chad's College, Durham University, he was consecrated as Bishop of Barbados. In 1997 he was elected Bishop of the Diocese of the Bahamas & the Turks & Caicos Islands. He was elected Archbishop and Primate of the Province of the West Indies in 1998. His full title is His Grace, The Most Rev'd Drexel Wellington Gomez, Lord Archbishop, Metropolitan and Primate of the Church of the West Indies & Bishop of the Diocese Of Nassau & The Bahamas (Including the Turks & Caicos Islands).

Along with Archbishop Peter Akinola, Anglican Primate of Nigeria, Archbishop Gomez is a leading opponent of the ordination of practising homosexuals as Anglican clergy, an issue that escalated into a crisis for the Anglican Communion following the consecration of openly gay clergyman Gene Robinson as Bishop of the Diocese of New Hampshire in the USA in 2003.

In October 2003 Archbishop Gomez was appointed to the Lambeth Commission on Communion by the Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr. Rowan Williams. The Commission produced the Report of the Lambeth Commission on Communion (also known as The Windsor Report and the Eames Report), published in October 2004.

The word constipated comes to mind immediately.

The titles, well what can be said about the titles. He must be one of the most important churchmen on planet earth.

But when I look at the picture I think back to Dicken's depiction of Scrooge, "A squeezing, wrenching, grasping, scraping, clutching, covetous, old sinner!

Have you really resorted to making fun of people's looks?

Have you really resorted to gutter snipping?

How anyone could get that I am making fun of Drexel Gomez is absolutely beyond me.

I am simply saying that as I view the look on this man's face, the way he dresses and holds himself, his entire "public presentation", I can now connect the person with his views and words, and it all makes sense.

I'm sorry Elizabeth, I apologize for inferring more into your comment than you obviously intended. I don't think I understand what you do mean, but I accept that my conclusion was wrong. (Although I don't believe Bill's comments above to be particularly gracious). No gutter sniping intended.

Thank you, Scott, for your gracious apology.

We don't need to agree or even understand, but we can be civil.

Thanks for being such a gentleman.
