Come in! Come in!

"If you are a dreamer, come in. If you are a dreamer, a wisher, a liar, a Hope-er, a Pray-er, a Magic Bean buyer; if you're a pretender, come sit by my fire. For we have some flax-golden tales to spin. Come in! Come in!" -- Shel Silverstein

All good things come to an end.

It's Labor Day - the last unofficial day of summer.

The endless summer has - all too soon - come to an end.

Time to bid this summer season:

Adieu!

Aloha!

Adios!

Via con dias!

Hasta la vista, baby!

Later, gator!

Or, as they say in the Silicon Valley:

Whatever, whatever, whatever!

Until next year.

My, my, my ... if the Beach Boys had seen this picture they might have written, "I wish they all could be Newark girls!"

Happy Labor Day!

Elizabeth, somehow I don't like this note. Exactly what are you saying goodbye to? :(

Are you stopping blogging, then? That's sad :(

Okay, so I changed it to "Bid summer goodbye."

Jeeesh. Can't a girl get misty eyed over the end of summer?

Well, Maddy. And you, a priest in the church of God!

Maddy,

My beloved says I posted this just to make "Mr. Melanie" drool.

I told her he was an uber-Christian who would never have a homoerotic thought.

I'm right, right FMaddy?

Summer is a state of mind. It's always summer if you want it to be. And to be technical, as the song says, "Beach baby, beach baby, there on the sand
From July to the end of September
Surfin' was fun we'd be out in the sun every day". So as I see it, it'
s summer until the end of September.

Guessed what?

To be a pedantic old fart for a moment:

"Adieu" is a final goodbye you say to someone or something you never intend to see again, like someone who is about to die, or move to darkest Africa. It literally means "To [commend to] God".

"Au revoir" or "a bientôt" are probably better choices in this case because I certainly HOPE you will see next summer! :-)

OK. You caught me coming back for a second look.

I think you are fishing a little bit here, because I think you know you look good in this shot.

But, I am feeling generous this afternoon and I am going to jolly you along and say it: "Baby, you look HOT in that shot." And, I really wouldn't have guessed that about you.

I've been reading your blog since 2003 and in that time I have thought that you were smart, creative, funny, even heroic. I have admired you, given thanks for you, prayed for you, and been enriched by what you write here.

So, just by checking in a couple times a week, I have had occasion to think quite a lot about you. But, I never, never, ever, would have thought you were a total babe! It just wasn't one of the thing's I'd thought.

So, you surprised me. And I appreciate it.

A friend and admirer,

Lindy

To be 58 and counting and described as a "total babe" is the absolute zenith of my blogging career.

Like listening to Pavroti singing.
