"Finally, I suspect that it is by entering that deep place inside us where our secrets are kept that we come perhaps closer than we do anywhere else to the One who, whether we realize it or not, is of all our secrets the most telling and the most precious we have to tell." Frederick Buechner
Come in! Come in!
"If you are a dreamer, come in. If you are a dreamer, a wisher, a liar, a Hope-er, a Pray-er, a Magic Bean buyer; if you're a pretender, come sit by my fire. For we have some flax-golden tales to spin. Come in! Come in!" -- Shel Silverstein

Actually, I'm thinking it's more along the lines of what the Queen did...that perhaps could not be seen, but heard and/or smelled...
Really? No, it can't be the Queen. Look at her face and then Phillip's face.
Nah, t'was Phillip that farted.
Sefinitely Philip.
This side of the pond we all remember with fond affection the state visit of Jacopo Gowon the Nigerian Dictator in 1978. As they clattered up the mall in the open state coach one of the horses thunderously farted. Everyone looked embarrassed. HM the Q turned to Gowon and said “I'm most terribly sorry.” Gowon broke into a borad smile — “never you mind, ma'am. I thought it was one of the horses.”
Those photos are priceless. Even the Royal Family is human after all. Thanks for the giggle!
Oh, bishop! What a great story - even better than the pictures. We do loves us some HM the Q stories.
And Sara, I guess that's the point of the picture and the thing that makes me laugh about the foibles of the Royals - they are human, after all.
We don't have that on this side of the pond and I think we're poorer for it.
Oh, and if you haven't read "Anglo-files: A Field Guide to the British" go out and get it today and start reading. It's already in paperback, so it's cheaper. Or, go to your public library.
I don't remember this story in there, but it could be. It's like that.
That is simply too funny for words! Thanks so much for this post. I neeed a laugh this morning!
HRH Elizabeth is one to turn her nose in disdain! She is the one so knockered that she resorted to wearing a lamp shade.
An act of which his wife and his son are apparently, sadly, incapable.
Oh you Americans!!!
"His Grace" to my knowledge is kept for religious types. Phillip is HRH (His Royal Highness) and Daviid, the Queen is HM (Her Majesty)
Brian (an Australian Royalist)
Thanks, Brian R. Not only did you help a poor benighted American speak proper King's English, you elevated the conversation from farts to faux pas in a few strokes of the computer key pad. Well done, mate.
Or maybe it was Princess Margaret who did the farting...but I bet the Queen can fart and not change one bit of her expression! Man, it is looking like the Queen has been raiding her late mum's clothes closet...
Re Alan Wilson's anecdote of HM & General Gowon - that's HER story!
