Come in! Come in!

"If you are a dreamer, come in. If you are a dreamer, a wisher, a liar, a Hope-er, a Pray-er, a Magic Bean buyer; if you're a pretender, come sit by my fire. For we have some flax-golden tales to spin. Come in! Come in!" -- Shel Silverstein

My sincere apologies

I am a techno-idiot. Really.

I mean, you would think I ought to be pretty savvy. I blog almost every day. But, I'm not. At all.

Some of you have tipped me off to the fact that sometimes, your comments don't show up. For others of you, your posts never show up.

I don't know what I did to make that happen. There's no rhyme or reason to it. I am not aware that I changed any of the settings.

Makes absolutely no sense to me.

So, Kirke sent me a link to a post that is designed to take idiots like me - step by step - through the process that helps you moderate your comments.

I followed the directions carefully, made a few changes and now have my fingers crossed. I have no idea what I did, exactly. I just hope it works.

Please let me know - one way or the other.

I understand that, in 2003, Saint Isidore of Seville was proposed as the patron saint of the Internet, but was not among the top six vote totals in an Italian Internet poll.

I think, just for good measure, I'll light a novena candle to Ole Saint Izzy.

This just may be the miracle he needs to get him this special canonization.

My apologies. Sincerely.

Well, let's see if it works...testing, testing!

I have had comments not show up but whatever! I still love you Elizabeth!

Woo hoo! It's working. But, what I don't understand is this: It usually shows up in my email first.

What the ???????

Elizabeth Kaeton said...

Okay, so Fran's showed up in my email but Kirke's didn't.

I don't get it.

Hey, St. Izzy - is this why you lost the election? Only do things half-way? C'mon. Help a girl out here.

Sometimes mine don't show up either, but then I'm less savy than anyone on the planet. I still can't totally download a picture and I like to blame it on my camera. HA!

The showing up on your e-mail may have to do with cookies, but good Lord, don't quote me.

Elizabeth Kaeton said...

My cookies? I've got cookies?

Trust me, honey, if I had cookies - even in cyberspace - I'd know where they were and what kind they were and I'd have a big ole glass of milk or a great cup of latte and they'd be gone.

I've got cookies? Who knew? Not me. Are you sure?

BTW, this didn't show up in my email. I checked my dashboard and moderated the comment from there.

Sheesh!

The Techno-Goblins are out to get you. They are very active around Hallowe'en. My Open ID has been haunted for a month.

Elizabeth Kaeton said...

A haunted Open ID?

Sweet Baby Jesus and all the angels that rock him to sleep!

I was so much happier before I knew all this stuff. Ignorance can, indeed, be bliss.

St. Izzy, ora pro nobis.

I stopped commenting because none of my comments were being posted. I thought that you were upset with me and could not remember what I could have possibly written to get on the black list.

Everyone who uses the internet has cookies.

May all your cookies be chocolate chip!

Isidor of Seville was as much of the Westrogoth church in Spain a Gnosticism-leaning Neo Platonist, the closest they got in the 1st Millennium to a tea-bagger...

As a Patron for our Peregrinatione in Interrete he is a Joke - unless one dispises the Internet...

Well perhaps a candle for Arachne who was into webs might work better.

I use google account for id purposes.

One of mine didn't show up the other day when I commented on your story about the cell phone Diva. However, I just figured you had too many things going on at once but it probably was a techno-goblin.
(We are getting near Halloween.)

Well, a little respect. Isidore was a person of vast learning, inventor of the encyclopedia, and here you are calling him "Izzy." No wonder he's holding out on you. LOL

Of course, I assume the saints all have a much broader perspective on the other side, so he probably does not mind.

May Michael defend you and Isidore guide you. I rarely go to dashboard so almost all my comments come in e-mail. Good luck with it all.

I will also test as my comments seem to disappear but have been so relieved since you assured me it was not personal.

Elizabeth Kaeton said...

Well, I don't know what I did, but every single on of the above came via email and nothing appears in the "comments to be moderated" on my moderation page.

Maybe St. Izzy got the messages.

Maybe Kirke's instructions helped.

Who knows? I'm still confounded by this whole cyberspace / blog thing. Then again, I still don't know how the radio works - how sound can travel on the air - or how we've gotten people on the moon.

And people still want me to explain the Trinity.

Testing...testing. Is this microphone on?

it's margaret said...

I'd trust you explicitly to talk about the Trinity!

Elizabeth Kaeton said...

KJ - Woo hoo! It's working. At least for now. Got your post in my email and, after I hit 'publish' it did not appear in my "comments to be moderated" dashboard.

Woo hoo!

It really IS the little things.

Elizabeth Kaeton said...

Oh, Margaret, honey, you can't possibly be that confused that you would trust my explanation of the Trinity! Love you too, darlin'

Looks to me like you got the kinks worked out just fine. I'd be thrilled to have 20 comments.

Well, I can sorta tell you how that stuff works, but what I really know is "duct tape." No self-respecting redneck--even an educated redneck like me--goes anywhere without duct tape in the truck.

So let's just say I am not bad with cyber-duct tape, either! It ain't pretty, but it works.

Elizabeth Kaeton said...

Well, Kirke, your duct tape seems to be holding up.

Unless, of course, someone tells me differently.

Hi Elizabeth - I've not had any of my comments show up either, but I decided 1) it wasn't personal 2) I don't care, I love your blog.

Glad to have it confirmed!
